Style

After reading the Elements of Style, I feel that I explain too much. I thought I do not make clear what I am going to say, but it makes too much. Second, as an international student some time I do not find correct word and may be construct awkward adverbs. I will try to improve this. Third, I do believe revise and rewrite. Although it is time taking process, it makes my writing good. Forth, I did not realize adjectives and adverbs make different sense. I need to work on write with nouns and verbs.

Effective Argument

Read Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" in your yellow Seagull Reader book. It's kind of a lengthy one, but it's a good read, I promise. Go ahead—I'll wait.

Done? Ok, now that you've read it, I want you to do some analytical thinking. Who's he addressing? What is he addressing? What is the tone he's using to address these people? Taking all that together—audience, purpose, tone, context—what in it is effective? What's ineffective? Where does he utilize logical fallacies (they're in there, I promise) and where does he make sound logical arguments? How does he balance the ethos, pathos and logos parts of his argument?

And, perhaps most importantly, how can you utilize any of this in your paper?

He is addressing eight of his fellow clergymen and all human being who believe racism and do discrimination according to racism. The purpose of the letter is the awareness of civil right. He addresses all human beings are created equally, so we should all have the same rights as the next person, and people do not have rights to discriminate according to race. He is using diplomatic and political tone. He uses a very strong pathos while writing and speaking to his audience. He tries to help them to see things from his perspective. He uses detailed stories that make the reader feel like they are seeing what is going on. He also uses his ethos to show his respect for the audience, which in turn puts a positive spin on the negativity of the whole situation.

Three fallacies:

Polarization: Most of the people say female are weak in the sense of managerial point and are not able to handle the managerial post as well as political activities. That is falls. We find lots of country has female president and they run the nation very smooth. For example, female can do any kind of job what man do.

Either-or: “do or die”. It means you have only two choices. Either you should choose one option or you can responsible to result. I remember one statement that my mom always told us during lunch and dinnertime. We kids did not like to eat green vegetable and my mom always told, “Eat your broccoli or you won’t get desert.”

 Slippery slope:   If you decide or committed without further justification for one thing then it will automatically accept for the rest. For example, If you decide an international student are allow to study and stay in USA for free of cost and legally That means rest of the international student does not need visa and money  and can easily come to USA.

Topic

It was very difficult for me to select the topic for the persuasive essay. First, I chose the topic “euthanasia is good choice for critical ill patient”, and I came to know that this topic was a legal issue. Therefore, I changed to write about Acupuncture therapy. I am going to percussive it as the best therapy among other therapy. Because As an oncology nurse I handled so many critical ill patient and gave many medicine to reduce their pain but at last it did not come worth. I found many patients had good result from acupuncture therapy and read a lot about it, so I decided to write about Acupuncture therapy.
